Mail on Sunday Update Congratulations to the Astbury’s Men’s team lead by Andy Hardie, beating Reddish Vale on their own course 3 – 2 in the second round of The Mail on Sunday team competition! There were wins for Alan Percival, Ian Oakley and Dan Young. Played in windy conditions, no two ways about it. this was a very good result. Fingers crossed for a home draw in the third round! February Newsletter Happy New Year to everyone. The start of a new golf season is already upon us with the 1st round of The Mail on Sunday Classic Competition due to be played on Saturday 20th February at home to Leek Westwood. I’m sure the weather conditions will be a far cry from the Finals that will be held in Spain later on in the year! We have also received the draw for the 1st round of the Dunham Forest Knockout where we have been drawn away at Ringway, Manchester and this match is scheduled to be played at 2.30pm on Sunday 21st March. Ian Oakley will be organising the Dunham Forest team for 2010 and our Pro for this year is Ian Seath. With April fast approaching the North Staffs Premier League will be starting with our first match away at Alsager on Saturday 10th April with a 1.30pm start. With Astbury finishing 3rd in the scratch North Staffs Premier League last year our aim for this year is to improve upon this position even further in 2010. Andy Hardie will be picking the 1st team for 2010 and has some strategic ideas up his sleeve for team selection and pairings. Whilst, quite a way off, we have been drawn at home for the preliminary round of the North Staffs Jim Cumberbatch Scratch Trophy against The Chase with this game having to be played by 24th May. I hope you will, with me, wish Andy Hardie & Ian Oakley all the best for the coming season and give them your 100% support! There will also be a new team shirt available for the new season for both the 1st and 2nd Teams, if you are interested in securing sponsorship for these shirts please contact us asap.
