Friday June 18th brought a dilemma for many as it was the first prize giving evening of the season but also THAT soccer match - England against the mighty Algeria. The prize-winners are all those that had won events so far this year. With a good turn out despite the distraction, any stay-aways needn't have worried as Dave Young, with the consent of the winners, was able to zip through the presentations allowing all that so wished, to watch the less than riveting match. Half time was action packed (unlike the first and second half) with the winners photograph being quickly taken on the veranda. In a break from convention no speeches were required from the Major winners thereby reducing the formalities considerably. It was a well supported and enjoyable evening. The winners are pictured on the balcony with the Captain and one can only admire their collective professionalism in managing to hide their shock from the cameras given what they had witnessed only seconds earlier in the first 45 minutes.
The Captain Mr Peter Bozon welcomed the winners, thanked Dave Young our hard working Competition Secretary for his excellent work this season, Patsy & Peter for the food and Sue & Margaret on the bar.
