Ladies Invite Gents Greensome May 16th 2010.

A massive field of 100 ( 50 pairs) turned out for the annual Ladies Invite Gents competition on Sunday 16th. Casting aside the shackles of playing with their normal "significant others" some very strong pairings suggested that this was not just a fun competition. In a Greensome or Foursome format there is something quite awkward about inflicting the consequences of your errant golf shot on your team mate rather than yourself as normal. However there were no reports of any dramatic separations on the course and indeed some long term relationships may have been forged.

Given all these difficulties the scores overall were really exceptional with over half the field playing below their joint handicaps. After the competition the teams all sat down in a delightfully bulging and newly decorated club house to eat a fabulous Carvery and share experiences of the day. A good time was had by all and the teams look forward to September when the reciprocal event, Gents invite Ladies, takes place. Next Mixed event is Bank Holiday Mixed on Monday 31st May.

Thanks to Karena for organising so efficiently and to Patsy and Peter for accommodating such a full turn out.

The editor apologises that he forgot his camera and hence had to beg photographs from others who had better things to do. This unfortunately means that the photos are restricted to only the winning pair.

The results in full were :-

1st on 43 pts Lauren Oleksik  and Colin Chapman - This was Colin's first event and there were suspicions that he couldn't believe his luck in playing with a player in such great form as is Lauren. The picture shows Lauren and Colin being presented with their prize by The Captains.

2nd on 42 pts  Karen Watson and Andy Smith (better back 9) - Karen's monster putt for 2 on the 15th awoke a slumbering crowd on the Tee and certainly helped achieve this score.

3rd on 42 pts Eileen Murphy and Nigel Hodges - Throwing aside his normally self deprecating style Nigel thanked his supporters for attending once again and encouraged them to return again on Bank Holiday Monday.

4th also on 42 pts were Karena Collier and Peter Harrison - Need I say more on the missing link?

Nearest the Pin  on the 7th -  Roger Emery and Cydonia Morley

Nearest the Pin on the 11th - David Addenbrook and Louise Holt
